The Third Stall On The Right Is The Best Place To Cry In High School
I bear my soul each and every night
It comes tumbling out between cracks
In teeth and skin
Screaming things I've never dreamed about saying out loud.
Unspoken they burrow deep inside
Filling every crevice with doubt
Each day is a small infinity.
And I'm tired
Of the colors blending together
Of seeing things that aren't really there
Of hating everything I stand for
Knees aching from one too many steps
I can't pull myself away
From the never-ending repirse
Of the joke called living
I'm bursting at the seams
Begging to be seen
Cause it's harder to stay alive
Than it is to lay down and die
We fought a war that no one quite survived
Missing pieces on both sides.
We've gained a freedom
Thought to be long lost
And I can't believe I never saw
How beautiful each infinity really was
I'm in love with life and all the little ways
We make it through the day
And I'm still scared to cry
Because sometimes the night decides
Who I am
And who wins the fight
But each time the sun rises
It's a little easier not to hide
What I feel inside
And It's not so hard to find
We're more alike than believed
Because at one point we all dreamed
About not being who we seem.
And that's okay.
We don't need to be
Perfect pictures of what could come to be
Scare yourself a little each day
Because you'll see
How much better the world can be
When we learn to love ourselves.
