This Phobia and I; She and Me
CC BY-NDWater remembers the pleas for silence
Ducking your head under in the bathtub,
Just to listen to your own heart beat
and the quiet "Glug-Glug"
Of a faucet.
That sound should not bring me the peace that it does.
I like to think that when I hike
And drink from a spring,
That maybe the droplets that keep from my hands,
Could bring relief to someone at the trail head.
Think about it.
That one drop
could be a sign to the trail head.
A quiet
"You got this"
From someone at the top.
It is ironic.
I love water,
But any water deeper then 5 feet terrifies me.
A phobia is what I have.
Water and I...
We have a bittersweet volley.
She loves me and I love her.
I bounce my knee at the mention,
And she remembers my fear.
She uses it to push me to my limit,
To the greatest version of myself.
But I wonder...
Does she remember her strengths.
The power to drown,
And the power to terrify?
