Thorn covered body

                                              This thorn wrapped body struggles-

Forced to digest what society throws down its throat…

Leaving the house not knowing and fearing who will fill the shoes of your last judge, who will criticize who you displayed today?

Running your fingers through the imprints of last night’s tears, realizing this can't be you.

You are strong, you are bright, and you are worth noticing

The make-up only covers up the pain, the past-   the truth

I have scabs and scrapes, cut and bruises

BUT,

I dare not cover them up.

Every mark on my body defines where I have been, what I have done, and where I am headed.

No filter will touch the cuts on my knee from falling too many times; they show I got back up.

No filter will cover the stitches on my forehead, they show you can be put together again.

Every inch represents me:                                              It IS me.

Those thorns are a part of me

As a rose’s thorns protect it, I shall wear my thorns-

Cuts-

Scrapes-

Bruises-

Armor
