Thorn On a Rose

Suck in the air of a brand new day But it's the same old sh*t that's got me stuck at bay When everything you say is questioned At the sight of your face, my air is still lessened But I somehow manage to put up a good front You seem to think I don't care cause my answers are blunt I have good reasons to act the way that I've been But your touch continuously burns straight through my skin Seeping passed my ribs and rattling my bones This is when I realized that my gaze was far too close Opening my mind to the bigger picture while striking a thoughtful pose It turned out that you were nothing but a thorn on the rose

I genuinely loved your poem, and I'm starting to love a lot of your poetry, tigerlily. (Btw I think it would be best if you would make your username something other than your email, as a worker at Power Poetry we want to protect your privacy and don't want people to reach out to you that you would not like to).

However, I have noticed that you have several poems here for the Slam What You Will contest, and I just want to warn you that only one of your poems can be used in the contest. So please keep that in mind.

Your rhyme scheme is beautiful, as well as your imagery. Thank you so much.

Becca.
