Those boys

This one is for all of those boys.

Those boys that said "I'm waiting for someone special"
And I believed them
The ones that said all the right things in hopes I'd fall for it
The ones that said every cliche in a way I would believe it was true
The ones that once we broke up, found a new girl that didn't need the lies
The ones that just needed to be fucked.

Those boys that told me "I love you"
That I said "I love you too"
The ones that we were happy for a moment
The ones that overlooked the fights because "we loved each other"
The ones that once we broke up told me "I never loved you"
Well guess what boys, that doesn't even phase me.
You weren't the first one to tell me
And you certainly won't be the last.

Those boys that said "lets still be friends"
The ones that wanted me close enough to control
The ones that would string me along with false hope of remediation
The ones that didn't want me but didn't want me to be anyone else's
Those were the ones I put up the fake smile for

Those boys that built a future with me
The ones that said "I never meant it"
The ones who tried to hurt me
The ones that thought they could break me

Those boys that said "I don't like you for your body, I like you for who you are, the body is just a bonus"
Until you found out I wasn't going to give you my body
The ones that pushed for more than I would give
The ones that said "because I said so" isn't a good enough reason.
The ones that don't take no for an answer
The ones I left far behind
Those were the ones that were the worst for me.

Those boys that said "you'll never find someone like me"
The ones that were liars
The ones that cheated
The ones that didn't trust me
The ones where love never existed only lust
The ones that hated me because they weren't my whole world
The ones that I didn't need
The ones that knew I didn't need them
The ones that faked tears when i walked away
The ones where I didn't look back
The ones that begged me to stay
The ones that said I was their world
The ones that left empty words
The ones that tried to break me.

This one is for all of those boys,
Because,
I'm strong
I'm independent
I never needed you
I'm happy without you
I smile more without you
I laugh more without you
I dream bigger without you

I never needed you to make my world or make me happy.
I never needed you to love me

But to all those boys I have to thank you.
Thank you for showing me how much bull shit can occupy one person
Thank you for leaving me because I'm happier now.

Thank you for the life lessons.
