For those to come

Whip by whip,

Each generation inching closer to the freedom banner.

A rainbow of strength and unity carved out of the darkest pits of suffering and misery.

Monuments found six-feet under, turning and weeping over continuous newscycle runs.

Giving rise to new movements, more awareness yet as inconspicuous as can be,

working twice as hard only to take two steps back and one forward.

Soon, though, history will rewrite itself telling the true tale of those who paved the way,

Providing a road map for those to come.
