For Those Left Behind

Sometimes I weep, or mourn
For those killed, or unborn
For friends left back in another time
Back when our friendship wasn't just a mime,
No, a memory
A wisp of reality that has slipped away from me
A lost dream
A lost hope
I cry for those who've reached the end of their rope
This is no fantasy, but it's not real either
Believing the inevitability of tomorrow
Thinking that, no matter what, we will see another day
But that's not always true
So I pray
For those who are gone
For those just in our minds
I pray
For those left behind
