Those Three Words

Somethings are better left unsaid,
while other should have been said much sooner.
Those three words tend to haunt those to whom they were said,
but not truly meant.
Those three words lost meaning the day you walked away,
yet they still haunt me.
I wished--I prayed-- that I could turn back time;
take it all back.
I wish I could have never found out
what happiness was;
never find you.
Those three words echo in all my thoughts--
my dreams.
You shattered me,
perhaps to make me stronger,
but that doesn't make it hurt any less.
Once, I wished you'd hate me--
Make me forget any feelings I'd ever had for you
I want those three words to stop.
I want time to forget about me;
about us.
I want to go back,
not to who we used to be,
but to who we never were.
Those three words
echo violently in my head
with each passing day.
I want to be okay,
Just like you said;
just like you promised.
Those three words;
"You'll be okay"
Sweet lies;
doused in poison
"You'll be okay"
you whispered.
I never saw, but you were simply
a mask
blinding me from
the demon
awaiting
my
demise
"You'll be okay."
