Those Who Deserve
A miserable existence brought about
by greed and jealousy and spiteful thoughts
does nothing to excuse your callous words
uttered in spite and hate for the world.
By telling us your tales of pain and woe
The pity that you are trying to sow
In our sympathetic minds and gentle hearts
May have gone unnoticed by us so far
But the charity you are trying to win today
Is not yours no matter what you say
Our sympathy is for those who deserve
And not for such imposters who pretend to suffer.
These struggles and these hurdles of the world
That you are falsely claiming to have endured
Are battled by people every single day
For they know no other life, no other way.
So, the next time you set out to stage such a lie,
Wonder at yourself, Is it worth the price
That the others who truly suffer have to pay
Because the sympathy THEY deserve, you have taken away?
THEY are the ones who endure; you are just playing a game
But the people of the world? They only know YOUR name
While the nameless, faceless sufferers slip to the shadows
For you might have taken away their only chance to escape the gallows.
