To Those Who Don’t See Themselves Clearly
As I am writing this letter,
The words don’t easily come.
By grace of god,
Or will of man,
I will write what will make you feel better.
Dear friend, you may not think you’re beautiful,
But know you are wrong.
Like stars in sky,
Or fish in sea,
I know you’re beauty is innumerable.
Poets would look upon your face
And not have the words to say.
Should they glance,
Or should they stare,
Words could not capture your grace.
Yet you feel lost and unnoticed,
Even though you should not be.
And in the dark,
Or in the day,
You bring your insecurities to focus.
They claw and grab at your brain,
Making what others say irrelevant.
But know now,
Or hold peace,
That your thoughts shall be your bane.
Looking back you’ll wonder what you missed,
In the days full of ignorant bliss.
My friend I ask of thee,
To see before it is late,
That you are more beautiful than the eye can behold,
More so than all of the words untold.
