To Those Who Reach for the Stars

The clouds above And the sands below, Do not compare To the warm glow Of the sun To which it shines A lonely me On a lonely Isle. But I do not despair For I have with me, A single item A simple thing. My love for music And all that is right, A passion for knowledge A passion to fight. For if I was alone With only one thing to bring Without a missing a beat, I would bring me. I would bring my desire To survive and see My family again And my husband to be. I would hunt for food With heart in high mood I would sleep through cold nights All while humming a happy tune. I would persevere And stare at the sky, Smiling and laughing I would not cry. For it is myself that I rely on To get me through life, I only hope to influence In a positive light, My future children Who shall never doubt that I love them dearly Inside and out. On my lonely island I salute to all who work hard For persevering similarly, For aiming for the stars.
