To Those Who Relate

There is a pedestal,

Set by those in society.

A pedestal which is unforgettable,

And sets off an anxiety.

Expected to be what they ask,

And do as they say.

So on yourself you put a mask,

And set yourself away from this display.

You wear this mask until realization,

Realization that nothing will change.

People’s senses won’t be awaken,

No matter how much of yourself is rearranged.

Everyone has a certain pain hidden away,

From this world and people we know.

And all we can do is sway

With the world and hope to grow.

There’s not much to say,

And there’s not much to do.

Because it’s just the price we pay,

For the things we go through.
