The Thought is What Counts

All I need is the thought of love,

I don’t need love,

Because, to me, love is like ice cream on a warm summer day,

It saves you from the heat for a moment, but in the end, it just leaves you sticky and begging for more,

Why torture yourself?

I prefer to stay in the comfort of my own mind,

To not feel that sticky, messy goop it’ll leave me in,

I don’t want to know what love truly is, because I know, the love I envision, is not the love I’ll meet,

So, why disappoint?

All I need is only the thought,

I don’t need to know what it truly is,

because what it truly is, is not what I seek.
