Thoughtless

As my mind draws a blank,
On what to write next,
I sit back and think,
Should I write about,
Love?
Dreams?
Hope?
Feelings?
Tapping my fingers against the blue lined paper,
That stared back at me with a blank face,
Feeling the gears shift back and forth,
Thoughts swirl around my mind,
As jumbled words smash together,
A strike of light; a thought, an idea, appears,
Finally I can begin to write....

You have the amazing ability to turn something that could be first perceived as something simple and monotonous into something extremely engaging. In this case, you write about the process of writing, and the imagery you use really helps to draw the reader in to a process that surely they can relate to as well. You definitely pick your words very carefully, to make sure that they each have the desired effect, and I have to say my favorite lines are, "Feeling the gears shift back and forth" and "As jumbled words smash together, / A strike of light; a thought, an idea, appears" because you excellently describe the process of writing. There is always the initial fear of not being sure what to write about, and then as your brain sifts through various ideas, eventually there is the flow of ideas. This is great work! Have you ever thought about combining multimedia with your poetry, like turning it into a video or even a song? Check out how and find new ideas in the Resources section of the site.
