Thoughts

Palm trees for shade,

Nature's protection, 

Sand for foundation, 

Nature's reassurance,

Escaping memories, 

Forgetting the look of their faces,

The gifts of isolation,

Ideas that can haunt, 

Secluded from what I love,

Living alone grants freedom, 

Freedom unwarranted,

The ambition only survival can bring,

The pleasures of natural selection,

Alone I can only wonder,

There's only one thing I need in this wild land,

The functions of the mind will suffice,

My thought processes are all I can rely on anymore,

Creativity to survive,

Ideas to thrive in this foreign land,

Nothing more nothing less,

Alone I can understand this power thoroughly,

This beautiful mind can release me,

And that is all I can ask for.
