thoughts of heartbreak

Heartbreak is the heartbeat moments

Smiles fading into frowns

When happy turns to sad

In remembrance of a memory

The longing to return

The sagging of your chest

One minute, laughter

The next, somber

Memories of what has been, what cannot be

The hollow end to a laugh

Brows creased, hands tense

eyes downcast

Silence

The choking up of your chest

Holding back tears

all your losses

Every little failure

Regrets sinking in

memories of the way his hands felt upon your skin

The way he held you when you cried, his patience

The love you felt

dissipated

forever
