Thoughts Of A Wandering Mind

You know when...

When that song keeps playing in your head,
And you get that feeling,
Like you could do anything,
And just float away.

You can’t help but think hard,
And daydream,
About the past,
And the future.

Mind wandering,
Heart pounding,
Palms sweaty,
In clenched fists.

Asking to start over,
Asking for forgiveness.

Then you go back to the beginning,
Going through what you just thought,
And that song plays again,
And you sigh because you’re tired,

You can’t help it,
The mind does that sometimes,
Does the unthinkable,
And makes stuff up.

You start to scratch your head,
Asking your brain to function right again,
And snap back to reality,
And hoping no one saw you

That's me every day,

Letting my mind wander with daydreams and nightmares,

Escaping reality,

And asking for a better one.
