A Thousand Black Ribbons

A thousand black ribbons flutter in the breeze from thousands of places and people and things from oceans and mountains and forests and seas a thousand black ribbons flutter in the breeze a thousand black ribbons flutter in the breeze One comes from a street in North America one comes from an avenue in Southern Asia one comes from every house on a block the aftermath of a war leaving so many distraught a thousand black ribbons flutter in the breeze a thousand black ribbons flutter in the breeze a mother, a father, a child, an aunt all wondering where their loved one went not knowing their loved one became one of the thousand black ribbons that flutter in the breeze
