A Thousand Days

If only there were a thousand days for us to live under the sun But once the mystery fades away, it's all been said and done At last the secrets are called out, they kept our spirits sane And drenched them with a power to soak up the pain The sun is gone and all is dead, but they aren't here to see Another year, a hostile mess, no one is left but me I carry the burden and the weight that crush all in due time But in the future, when all is new, I will be remembered with rhyme.
