A Thousand Miles Traveled
I travel ‘cross a world of bitter wind,
Nights of cold, days of angry blaze,
Searching for a keeping, finding no end,
Pressing on, knowing ahead better days.
Rising from the lowland, cliffs above cloud,
Down through the valleys, across frozen earth.
Heading for somewhere, whistling aloud,
Sailing for land hidden in wide blue surf.
Amber waves carry along a gold shore,
Whispers of a land, ‘midst the stormy sea,
My love for you deeper; also, much more.
There, distant isle, with you I wish to be.
A thousand miles traveled, none the more,
Still I search for you, my lighthouse on shore.
