A Thousand Words
Late at night
I press my hand against the wall
my head is ringing and I am
trying not to let it fall as everything else around me does.
It's the only stable thing I have in my life
and even then earthquakes still shatter homes and tornados create a blissful reduction
one by one, the walls come down and I'm letting people in.
I am Vulnerable.
I know better, but I know sooner or later it'll happen.
Not once, not twice, but more times than I can count on my fingertips.
I run them across my lips as I wonder,
bang them against my hips trying to drum a melody,
my mind can only wonder. My oh my how you look like me.
We’re not the same person anymore.
So who am I?
I am…
a thousand words
I am that one in a million who will take your mind
and twist it into believing it is extraordinary
and help you to understand the difference between the big bang and a God
I am buzz lightyear,
Loving you to infinity and beyond, wanting waiting for the best for you and me
all day long, but knowing it'll never
Get that good because we can always be better
I am
Fearless
I am beautiful, even with all the scrapes and scars
It's just proof that I am stronger than I ever been
Too much going through my mind
I'm still going to win
Win this war inside my heart that makes me want to give up, and keep fighting at the same time
I am resilient
I am breathtaking
Looking you in your soul and seeing all the things you don't want to tell me
And yet I still see you, I see me
I am you
We are one in the same, making things up as we go and hoping we stay sane
We might be together forever
So I won't step on your toes, but I'll be knocking at the back door of your brain standing next to your soul in
The mirror, asking who am I?
Who have I become
What more can I be
I am me, but my story is not yet done.
