thread of hope.

i am still holding on to a thread
of hope, despite the fact there
is someone to warm half the bed
at night with you. letting her wear
your things, i wish that flashes
of me light into your scarred brain
when an old and new world clashes;
i hope these memories drive you insane.
if she calls you by the same cheesy
nickname i used to, i hope your reference
reply is lost to her. with her, it's easy
to accept her thoughtful deference
when you have your moments of weakness.
you love her average, but cherish my uniqueness.
