The Threat to the Reflection of Life

Hey, wait.
Do you not see us?
Did you not hear us?
I mean, I’d understand,
We do spend our time hidden in a dim light theatre
Making art while now one is around.
But now we say you can see,
You can see what four months of tinkering and teetering on the brink of sanity has created,
But you say no.
As if light shines brighter upon the turf of a misty field
As if the emotions are more real when they are preached by the squeaks of manufactured rubber soles on wood floors.
We preach too. We shine too.
Emotions of a caliber that we may never experience in our lifetimes
Colloquial tones of speech not native to our tongues
Tears we cry for those unknown in reality because they live
On a page
On a stage
In the contents of our souls.
So when we open the house,
Our home,
Please respect the fact that we don’t have money
That we don’t get the large budgets
We are pushed to the back of the class with our hearts full of good intent
While the prowess of athleticism is deemed more worthy of subsidy
So please, when we open our hearts,
Willing suspend your disbelief.
You will see what life looks like through a rough cut piece of rose colored glass.
