Three Questions
He asked me, “Would you like to dance?”
Hand in hand
Side by side
I wanted to be in sync with his footsteps
My breath got caught between
An obscene yes and a novel no
Being tugged by a devil and an angel
Falling from Heaven and slipping into Hell
Losing touch from reality and to fantasy
When he asked me, “Will you be mine?”
If I had known his last question
Daunting on me with friction
I would have never traced a “y”
With its scorching shadow of a lie
Next to an “e”
Just wanting nothing but to flee
But before it could escape
I caught it
And end it with a “s”
Never knowing it had unnecessary stress
Those letters found permanency
On the line of unsure chancy
Of his divine hand
I remembered his last question he ever asked
When he passed me those five words
I will never forward
“Will you forget about us?”
