Three-Toned Tribute
Dear Art Critic,
the commonly formulated question, comment. complaint
when it comes to the seemingly pressing matter of my limited color selection
generally translates to a simple 'why?'
why must I constrain myself to a mere three primaries
such unbearably standard yet overused hues
when an entire spectrum can be found in a single pack of paint tubes?
maybe it is because the reds paint the frustration
occasionally the anger, yet often less aggressive, through a versatile hue
as soft as the flush of a cheek to the most potent pomegranate seed
the yellows, the perfect complement to the severity the others provide
often light yet even more often intentionally harsh.
the blues, the best saved for last, reminiscent of the waters which encapsulate
a lifetime of memories painted deep into the soul of the artist
gravitating to the eye and a profounder sense.
and when combined, the three supreme
unfailingly compliment yet boldly contrast, visually stimulating yet contradicting
just like the sentiments stored beyond the paint.
so the next time that you are so concerned with why I am so confined
may I remind you that the trio is my simple yet meaningful method
of translating the overcomplicated emotions into something more tangible.
Sincerely,
The Artist
