three year seed, three year flower

A seed planted six years ago has sprouted into the unique flower that now represents us

It was planted with the simple phrase you once uttered long ago

"Hello.."

It was watered by our friendship that would grow over the next three years

The journey of our flower wasn't always pleasant

You tried multiple times to show me how much you cared for me

But constant rejection was what slowly made our petals fall over time

Forcing our flower to regrow it's broken limbs

I didn't feel the same way you felt about me

Blind in a dark room reaching for a lover, but I never found you

I latched onto those who would only throw me to the ground

Leaving my heart to drown in it's tears

You were the arms I crawled into everytime I was left by those who didn't care like you did

A friend, always there to tell me "everything will be okay"

But I failed to realize then that you would be the only one able to fix my heart

I kept you as a friend by my side, not even considering you in a loving way

Three years of agonizing torture

Endless repeat of me being happy to me being hurt and in your arms, again

Finally you decided you were done with me

No more repeating cycle of me using your arms as a safe space and then leaving you behind in the dust when I was "healed"

You told me

If you're just going to use and treat me this way, I'm done, consider me gone.

"I'll just leave you alone"

Those words specifically stuck in the girls head

She couldn't comprehend it

Gone

A friendship that sprouted three years ago, over

Her brain accepted it, but her heart never did

However, a simple paintball game forced them to be close

On the same team, she was clueless

He protected her, no thought about it

On the way home, sitting quitely together

Thoughts racing about the other, but neither one knew about the other

She. Thinking about how he was done with her, but also about the feeling that she

FINALLY

started to recognize in her heart

He. Thinking he would only be played again, falling into the same trap, but more than anything he wanted

to grab her hand and hold it tight

Days passed

Thoughts in their heads failed to change

Backstage for a muscial, their hearts fluttered in secrecy

Spending every minute every second together

Laughing, smiling

Friends, but in their heads and hearts, hoping for so much more

The moment she knew

She had truly fallen and wouldn't hurt me again was when

He took her hand before they parted, planted a soft kiss on it

Leaving her in shock

Turned his back and left her there to think about him

She knew what she was getting into.

Three (and a half) years later

This boy and this girl are together and have been since that night he kissed her hand

A friendship that was only a seed in the ground six years ago

Planted, Grew, Fell, Grew, and Bloomed into a glorious flower

Although their lovely flower is beautiful, it wouldn't have come to be without

The seed of their friendship

Together, so strong, through so much

Has brought them the love they feel for each other

Healthy, no heartbreak

They have their problems but they get through them

To accept each other for who they are

Love wouldn't be love without his friendship

Together I hope we will forever be
