Through the Eyes of a Child
In the years to come, what will you be?
So full of potential, so happy and free
Will you one day fly to the stars,
Or would you rather explore the sea?
Your smile is contagious, your laugh brings joy,
Your spirit is one I hope age will not destroy.
As you continue to grow, I just want you to know
There is so much out there for you to enjoy.
I see myself in the children I come across everyday,
As they sing, dance, dream, and play.
I look at myself, and those around me then,
And wonder why the feeling of being one ever went away.
For I want to forever have the spirit of a child,
Happy, loving, and a little bit wild.
Being around them, I know now,
That being like one should never go out of style.
We should hold fast to our dreams,
And not let them rip at the seams.
We should get excited about little things,
Like a pretty bird, or the way the snow gleams
What happens to us, the older we grow?
The excitement, the creativity, where does it go?
Being around children inspires me to find it,
because they what we have forgotten, they still know
Something wrong with this poem?
