Through the Eyes of a Feminist

I am in limbo of being a

feminist and feminine.

Because apparently you can't be both.

As much as I want to hulk

smash the patriachry,

I don't want to break a nail in the process.

Being a beautiful woman with

an even better head on your

shoulders is the worst thing you can be.

Let alone, a woman who

believes she's beautiful

and knows her power,

her worth.

As much as I love my

feminist sisters (and brothers)

I hate to see that we'e

represented by people like

Lena Dunham who's a walking

billoard for white feminism.

Frederick Douglass was onto something

when he joined the suffrage movement.

Today we can't have the Black Lives Matter

movement and the third wave of feminism,

isolated from each other.

We're fighting for rights on different fronts,

but in the end, we all want to dismantle

the power of the privileged white man.

I want to reclaim the word feminism

as much as I want to reclaim

my body,

my rights,

my freedom.

Myself.
