Through the Flames

Not everyone can see the darkness within,

No one can see the pain that has brought you up.

Some will believe that you are acting on a whim,

Does it make a difference to them?

When you survive the abuse and the pain

To make it to where you are today.

Fighting every step of the way,

Only to prove everyone wrong.

No one ever asked if you were okay,

Only asked you to be at their beck and call.

No one was their when you were on the ground,

When you felt as if you were buried alive in the guilt.

Now that you are stronger and holding on,

Everyone brags about how they were there for you.

A shake of the head, let them talk

You know your worth and that it was you.

You crawled over broken glass,

Walked through the flames,

Ran over the dimming ashes to get to where you are today.

You survived abuse, pain, tears, and worse...

Now you are strong, and working for everything that you have in your life.

You now know... it might take time

But you can always make it back through the flames

If you need a reminder...

Of who you were.

But the woman you have become,

Is so much stronger and able to handle the life you have been given.
