Through It

I've been through it lately
I've been through the pain
Battling heartache in the same pace
As losing love
Doves turning into crows
And I take the same breaks as Curtis Blow
So forgive me
I've been through it lately

I've been self-conscious
Moreover death-conscious
The secrecy stays the same
And who might they hang for that
The exact opposite of what they paint me as
And the exact opposite of what you wanted me to be
So forgive me
I've been through it lately

And my momma has too
Because she's been worried about us and our future
So I guess we start to wondering too
And these days everybody's acting funny
So shady
No sunshine in these parts
So if you never see a smile on my face
Just forgive me
I've been through it lately

And we've been through it lately
Because when the conversations turn to arguments
You grab your letters and run with them
We should have a moment of silence ...
No letters have yet to come
No words have yet to form
All it took was practice
But you start over reacting
When there's no reaction
What's done cannot be undone
As far as what's said
Well there was nothing there anyway
So forgive me
I've been going through it lately

And lately my words are like a discectomy
So I dissect anybody that's really trying to get next to me
I don't deal with my insecurities
I brush them off
I turn them into a mean mug
That mean mugs
Just to give them a mean tug
So if there's bad blood between us
Forgive me
I've been through it lately

I can feel the pressure
Even when you can't feel the heat
As the temperature rises
The air gets populated with my diffidence
And the lies you told broke our alliance
Way to break the silence
Way to break the guidance
Way to break the appliance to our love
What a way for it to be your "highness"
What a way to keep me inside and defiant
What a way to break a beat in time
Its as if it was by design
So if I'm down and start to cry
Forgive me
I've been through it lately

So now
I feel like we're on a first name basis
So if I call you Thianar
I don't mean for you to feel so disrespected
But these days have been so hectic
And you left me feeling neglected
And to think my dad was suppose to be my protection from life
It came way too early
And you let it flourish
So if I seem flushed and blatant
Forgive
I've been going through it lately
