Through My Eyes
How do I express myself through words alone?
How can I be sure they’ll match my tone?
Can I try?
Will you let me show,
How I feel in ways that words don’t know?
You’re stunning.
A breath of fresh air,
And in my mind,
You’re still running there.
You slipped inside my thoughts so deep,
Even when I wake,
You haunt my sleep.
You infected my life,
my calm,
my strife.
Your presence carved its shape in my daze.
You worked your way inside my brain,
Trying to hide,
But it’s all in vain.
You shine much brighter than my pain.
Did you ever notice how your eyes shine in the sunlight?
How the brown gives way,
letting the green take flight?
And when the light touches just right,
I swear I see,
A soft shade of blue glowing underneath,
quietly.
Those colors dance in perfect harmony,
And I could watch them for hours endlessly.
Until you ask why I’m staring that way,
And all I can think of is how beautiful you stay
There’s not a moment you don’t break through,
Every thought I have circles back to you.
And though my words may stumble and fall,
My eyes will always say it all.
