Through the Sands

The tide rises and falls, they say,

Wiping the steps from the sand.

Yet those powerful and sure will stay.

Among bright lilacs you watched me play,

Teaching and tending while on those strands

The tide rises and falls, like they say.

Your wise prints set me on my way

Along with counsel and lesson by hand,

And those powerful and sure will stay.

Through tempest you led me not astray;

Your tracks a beacon despite that through this land

The tide rises and falls, as they say.

The forest ahead contains hardship and grey

But also the joy that many persevere to understand.

Yet only those powerful and sure will stay.

For you who sought for me to find the ray,

I thank you, for in my heart you shall stand!

The tide rises and falls, they say,

But only those powerful and sure shall stay.
