Throw Away the Keys

locked in a padded cell and I cannot find the keys

reading lips is not as easy as it often seems

dependence on the senses leads you onto darkened streets

serrated heart and lungs from cuts deep in the flesh

inhale and I bleed

the helplessness consumes my mind

but I remain serene

if they saw the war in this ribcage of mine

it'd me my defeat

so this cell will be my temporary den

until the hour when these wounds are mended again
