Thumping

Thump Thump Thump

The sound grows and grows

Thump Thump Thump

Away my heart goes

My head spins while my heart beats away

The stress and the fear are here to stay

They mix together in perfect form

And bring endless pain of fire and thorn.

feel my life falling apart

Reality comes with each thump of my heart

A life that was one full of friendship and fun

Gets stripped away until all hope is gone.

I'm trapped in the dark looking for light

I need to escape and survive the night

That's when I saw that freedom is you

You have the key to help me get through

You gave me your hand and I held on tight

You pulled me out and into the light.

I saw your face and got lost in you eyes

Now life seems worth the pain and the lies

With you there is hope and I have a future

There is not problem you cannot suture.

Thump Thump Thump

My heart beats for you

Thump Thump Thump

I love you too.

I'm a Grad student now studying Biochemistry and Biophysics (not sure how I got there). I guess I've been using this site for nearly 8 years now though sometimes I went years without writing much of anything. I write what I feel and I write what I need to let go of. Sometimes I write about a dream or a nightmare I had, If I can tell the difference. I fell in love for poetry in high school and continued to write in college. I hope to publish a book someday as well (leave a comment if a poem speaks to you). P.S. My Instagram is @CottonCandyPoems
