Thy self

Makeup can be just an
Inexpensive surgical treatment
Seeking to pleasure your need
To please a society full of greed
Concealing every piece of their identity
So deeply rooted in your souls
Your ancestors struggled to keep
Strong through the storm
And you can't even
Acknowledge their existence
By chizzling their features
To become less distinctive
Distinctively black
This poem is about:
Me
My community
My country
Our world
