Tick Tock

The clock continues to progress as minutes slowly pass. It feels as if it’s been an hour. I glance at the clock. It’s been exactly thirteen minutes. All I can feel are giant holes in my chest right where my heart used to reside. Weeks slowly pass by, feeling like forever. I see the scar has healed on my leg, but has my heart? Not even slightly. The minutes start to speed up, moving faster and faster. I watch the months and seasons go by. The trees transform from brown to pink to green. I start forgetting pain I once felt. The tick tock of the clock no longer feels so endless. A gaping hole no longer takes up space in my chest. Instead, it’s filled with something only time is able to heal.
