Tick Tock, Humanity on Auto Pilot

Sometimes I feel like a face in a crowd As if no one would ever pin point my face And label me as unique Then at the same time I feel as though I’m the only one breathing The only chest rising with each inhale of oxygen The only able to taste the air So sweet It’s sad Because I don’t know what feels worse I used to try so desperately just to fit in I wanted so badly to be like everyone else That I started to see myself fading away The fibers of my being tearing apart At the seams But I didn’t try to sew myself together When it was almost too late The change had already begun I realized that I could not be like the rest There was a reason I was different So then I tried to stand out I felt like everyone around me Was on a timed schedule The clock would tick And they would tock They’re shrunken thought processors On auto pilot I don’t know what’s worse Being myself Or being everyone else
