The Ticking of Time

The ticking of the grandfather clock reminds me of the things I still need to do.

the ticking may seem harsh and quick

but the minutes are slow

as I am young

with what seems like an infinite amount of moments

at the tips of my fingers

but the ticking only gets faster over the years

reminding me that I cannot stop

things must be done

and I must be the one to do them

for if not me, then who

I know that I must complete these things

since only I can hear the sharp ticking of the grandfather clock

reminding me that time does not stand still

but keeps moving, living, being

until it

finally

meets

death.

Time may be forever, but I, of course, am not.

Hello, fellow poetry lovers! I'm Lilly. I will write and read literally everything: poetry, novels, short stories, articles, research papers, and anything else with words. When I am not writing or reading, I am studying for school (sigh) and yeah that's basically it. Happy writing!
