The Tide's Gift

My father had discovered something quite beautiful by the cliffs

At a certain time during low tide

He was able to see across the beach into caves when the sea parted

There were many blue and purple crabs clinging to the rocks

Fish and sea slugs in the tide pools

Snails on the cold walls of the caves

And as fast as it was discovered

The ocean would fill up the caves

Crash against the rocks

And erase our path to the beautiful place
