Til Death Do I Part From You

Awoken from a numbing dream,

I sit up in my bed and cry.

I choke down the bad taste in my mouth,

and blink away the shadows dancing in my mind.

I make a list of my fears in a bible.

I pray them away.

Unconviced, I keep the lamps on.

I pull the covers around me.

There is a knock at the door.

"Who's there?"
