Til Death Do I Part From You 3
I fall down on the swollen ground,
My heart and my lungs nurishing the roses.
I am now made one with my thriving garden!
Though my thoughts don't wonder with its vine...
My hair is tangled.
My face is dirty.
My gown is ripped...
He drags me down the cobblestone steps,
past the violets glowing with starlight.
He heaves me into the wheelbarrow.
Paraded down the vegetable beds and pumpkin patch.
I am lowered into the pond.
His hand cups my neck and lower back.
Do I know you, stranger?
First I float then the weigh of a stone, sinks..
The stranger I know!
His hand around my neck felt familiar.
His anger, already present in my mind.
My eyes strain as I watch the final images of the garden,
and my husband.....
I can no longer hear my baby crying,
because I am screaming.
I sleep without dreams, at the bottom of the pond.
