Till I've Moved on
For now,
all I can do is write.
Every memory that I have of you,
I will write them down
one by one,
jot down every word,
every letter,
until there's nothing left.
I will write songs about the first time we met,
down that little town street,
you were wearing that sweet smile
that until now I still can't forget.
how I stared at you for moments,
enchanted by the way your eyes lit up
every time you blinked.
I will scribble down
how clearly I can still recall
every word you spoke
every moment that we had small talk,
-that someday you're gonna leave this town,
go cruising 'round the world
and maybe live in New York.
the verses would be about that hot night of April,
you were lying next to me
and I fell in love with your eyes.
I will compose poetries
of how I see your smile on edges of Autumn leaves,
how your voice still resonates down to my toes,
how I remember just exactly how you laugh
and the way you talk
and how I used to steal glimpses on you,
and sometimes at night, I look up,
I close my eyes and wish you were with me
(Though I know you won't be)
Between every lines,
I will admit that I still think of you,
and I will think of you
so I can pour it all out
inside the pages of the pieces I write.
Yes, I will write,
write
and write
and write
until all the thought of you
will only be traces of ink
engraved on these once unoccupied sheets,
I will fill these empty pages
with words that define you,
until I have finally removed the stain you scattered
from all the corners of my soul.
I will strip off every bit of memory
until I have finally moved on,
until you can only be found on paper
and not in my heart
anymore.
