Tilting Ever So Slightly

Waking
Sometimes shaking
The feeling
Of reeling
On the edge
Of this ledge
Tilting ever so slightly

Eyes wide open
Always hoping
That you will return
The past that won't burn
This love that I feel
Anger so real
Tilting ever so slightly

Why! Why couldn't you see my pain
Before you got in the car and drove away
Just a moment before
You had said you cared and still walked out the door
Bubbling up inside me
The city I've built to hide me
Tilting ever so slightly

Maybe it is all rhetorical
This shouldn't happen to a mere mortal
Scratching at my insides
The girl who always hides
A demon being let loose
You just can't choose
It or us
Get hit by a bus
That you are driving
And some more time you are buying
Your sanity and mine
Tilting ever so slightly

And then one day it all comes crashing down
