Time

I’ve got my eye on you, Your face is an emotionless mask. You control my day like it’s just an easy task. You know not the bang of a hard blow; Only the sight of days as they come and go. In my time of hardship you seem to stop As my body falls to the ground with a sickening flop You run so quickly in the best of times Yet I hear your voice in the middle of life’s crimes And you start to slow…down….Time. Time, how can you be so cruel? So cruel as to watch me suffer, Because when the state I’m in has got me under Some kind of spell and away from that hell, you run, Away from the gun once the marathon’s begun. Who are you to take those moments away? To make them go when I would’ve given anything just to have them stay… Awhile, just awhile so I didn’t have to keep looking back Into my past and see that my memories lack. They lack because, Time, your end seems so distant Then my world is turned around because you’re gone in an instant. I can’t help but give everything to you, for life is always in your hands. You probably turn around and throw my life in your Sands Of Time, Time I can hardly wait ‘til you’re mine To spend, waste whatever it takes to find And retrieve all you have lost me Although it will hurt to see, Time, what you have cost me. Soon it will be over, soon it will be through I just want you to know, Time, I’ve got my eye on you.
