Time

TIME

The evanescing minutes flow by.

The never lasting moments’ cling within.

The unanswered wish bursts in my mind.

My confession was not enough.

My blindness doomed my heart.

The embraces, the smiles, the laughs were handed to the masses.

The jest, the chats, the nudges were forgotten with a click.

The pictures, the actions, the words never registered beyond the surface.

Platonic.

It aches in tongue and pen; body and mind.

But, time’s supposed to heal.

One day I’ll gaze merely at a hazy memory.

One day this stinging wound will be patched over.

One day the songs won’t seem so blue.

But today you’re freshly ripped.

At first sight, at first speech, at first touch my soul caved.

Different, kind, and the one it cried.

On its own accord it was lost.

Yearning for its supposed twin.

The signals were there, or so it seemed.

That cool December day, when we posed and played,

Capturing the smiles, when my heart screamed you felt the same way.

One day, it’ll be dimmer, less bitter and sweeter.

Someday brown eyes, pale skin, and dimples will be forgotten.

Someday music will drift carelessly and sweetly from my lips.

Someday this dying hope will be enough to ease this soul.

But today you’re branded within my core.

That hot September day, when our language merged,

Acting out what words graced over, ignoring the omens,

Someday, it’ll be buried, less intense and calming.

Today courage and endurance are needed.

Today charm and indifference are to be faced.

Today naïveness and foolishness are to be conquered.

Time I gave,

Time now I plead.

One day, someday, and today are in one way the same.

The knowing player,

The clueless pawn,

Aren’t meant to cross.

One day,

Someday,

Today,

Time,

Are unfair and dear to the heart.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I always have trouble with saying more and telling less. Thanks again!

I really like the concept you chose, there's definitely a lot to say about it,

which is why I feel that it might be improved if you tried to tell more and say less.

Remember that poetry is really just the art of words and that you don't have to be direct

about it. Also metaphors and alliteration can really make a difference. you don't have

to take my advise, I'm not a professional poet of some sort, but this is just my opinion.
