Time

Tick, Tock,

It’s always a shock,

How fast it goes by.

No matter how hard I try,

It gets the best of me.

Even if I let it be.

It Ticks and It Tocks,

And how it mocks!

I rush and I plan,

I try just as hard as I can,

But it gets me, even in my prime.

That trickster Time!

I’m behind on every project,

And to all deadlines, a subject.

To every meeting I’m late,

It seems to be my fate.

Procrastination is my middle name,

It doesn’t want to be tame.

I even buy planners,

But Time doesn’t have good manners.

It flies like an arrow,

And brings me much sorrow.

Time just goes the opposite,

Why can’t I just do it!

Sometimes it’s so slow,

That the wind ceases to blow,

I want it to go faster,

But it tells me, “I’m the Master.”

It feels like it’s going slack,

And the minute hand is going back,

I just want it to end,

I thought Time was my friend.

Maybe one day I’ll be the one,

Who’ll get everything done,

With leisure time ample,

Be made an example,

I would love,

To give Time a shove,

And say,

“Hooray!”
