In Time
In time it will all make sense, The feeling of bumble bees in my stomach, When her laugh echoes through the air, And her cheeks crinkle at the sides. In time, She will look me into eyes and know, She will see past the stoney exterior, The walls built and rebuilt over many years. She will know that I hold a delicate heart within myself and how I won't let it out so easily. In time, I will not be afraid to hold her hand because I know that this one is right- That her fingers fit within mine- That she will be patient with my hesitation. In time, She will recognize my quirks; How I grow silent when I'm overthinking, How my hands can't be still if I'm worried, And how I love her even when I don't say it because sometimes my brain can't get to my voice fast enough. In time, She will love me for me. She will know right away that past the boyish clothing and dark lipstick is a sensitive woman. She will see me for me. In time, I will be okay. And she will be too. Where ever she is. I imagine that her hands are gentle enough to one day hold my heart, And that her eyes are warm and caring. In time it will all make sense, Why many before her had to come, And handle that silly little heart of mine. So that I would know when She took it in her grasp, I would be able to see that it was her all along.
