Time

 Dear old self,

I love you , you were truly genuinely happy even with all the troubles that past your way. The problem was you let people walk all over you, you allowed yourself to be blind to all the bad in the world. I understand you grew up believing if you treat people kind they will do the same to you but that is not nor will it ever be true. I am not saying that you need to stop being kind this world needs more people like you. Although, it will not hurt you to toughen up a bit. In fact it will do you some good. Be kind but never let anyone tell you what to do, speak to you in a way that you do not appreciate or look down on you. It will be hard to change your mentality at first, your heart will make you believe that you are coming off as rude but you are not stupid, you will know when to speak up for yourself. Just go with the flow. As you grow older and wiser you will see everyone’s true colors as well as yours. Trust me time is all you need. It’s precious so do not waste it. There will be a time when you feel unhappy but once you brain and heart think alike you will be genuinely happy once again and the best part is you did it on your own. You will learn that you are the only one who can decide whether to be happy or not. All it takes is time.

                                                                           Love, your new self
