Time

We said we couldn't wait to grow up,

We didn't know what we meant.

We thought growing up meant

"Because I said so" would be ours to say

We thought growing up meant

Nothing would stand in our way

We didn't know what we meant.

We couldn't wait, we hoped time

would pass in the blink of an eye.

But now what we long for most

is that time back.

I said I couldn't wait to grow up,

but I didn't know what I meant.

I knew that I was wrong the moment

I got what I wished:

Time passing in the blink of an eye.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
