In Time
The constant ambient noise of adulthood fogged my mind. The notion of childhood memories were long forgotten, growing up meant surviving. I could vaguely recall shattered childhood memories, bits and pieces flood my conscious when I find myself staring off into the sky. Thoughts of laughter and sorrow blend into one creating an oxymoron I called childhood. My oxymoron was like no other, it differed from my fellow peers because as they spoke of the good times they shared with their loving fathers and stay at home mothers. I faced life with a mother constantly trying to make amends for a father who left a void in my life. The void would later consume the memories I cherished and changed the outlook I had on life. Turning me into someone I would no longer recognize. Seeing the sorrows of life take a toll on my mother I stepped up to fill in my father's shoes that were weighed down by the responsibilities of a man. With time the weight would serve only to make me stronger. In time I realized that I was no longer a child, helpless and sad. Life had turned me into the man my mother looks to when times get tough. I smile in the face of sorrow now because I know that what I went through was no easy task. The burdens of life may weigh me down but in time they too will only make me stronger, in time.
